Lawrence E. Blume is a professor of Information Science and serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for Cornell Bowers. He is also Distinguished Arts & Sciences Professor of Economics. He is a Visiting Research Professor at IHS and a member of the external faculty at the Santa Fe Institute, where he has served as Co-Director of the Economics Program and on the Institute's steering committee. 

James Booth is the department chair and professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science. His research interests involve basic statistical methodology, including the bootstrap and Monte Carlo methods, clustering, exact inference, mixed models, generalized linear models, and also applications in bioinformatics. 

Jelena Bradic is a professor of statistics and data science. Bradic’s research centers on causal inference, machine learning, and high-dimensional robust statistics, with applications in areas including public health and policy learning. Before joining Cornell, she held positions at the University of California, San Diego, in both the Department of Mathematics and the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute. She received her Ph.D. in operations research and financial engineering, from Princeton University.

Florentina Bunea is a professor of statistics and data science and a member of the graduate fields of statistics, applied mathematics, and computer science. Her research is broadly centered on statistical machine learning theory and high-dimensional statistical inference. She is interested in developing new methodology accompanied by sharp theory for solving a variety of problems in data science and in the growing area of AI output evaluation. She continues to be interested in the general areas of mixture modeling, latent space estimation, sparsity and dimension reduction in high dimensions, and statistical optimal transport, as well as their applications, most recently to large language models and immunology, among others. Specific research foci include:

Claire Cardie is the John C. Ford Professor of Engineering in the Departments of Computer Science and Information Science. She was the founding chair of the Department of Information Science and led the development of its academic programs. Cardie works in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) on topics ranging from information extraction, text summarization, and noun phrase coreference resolution, to the automatic analysis of opinions, argumentation, and deception in text. 

Prof. Yun-chien Chang is Jack G. Clarke Professor in East Asian Law at Cornell Law School and also directs the Clarke Program in East Asian Law & Culture. His current academic interests focus on economic, empirical and comparative analysis of private law (particularly property law), as well as empirical studies of the judicial system. 
 

Eshan Chattopadhyay is currently an associate professor (with tenure) in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. He joined Cornell in 2018 after completing postdoctoral work at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing in Berkeley. Prior to this, Chattopadhyay earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 and his B.Tech in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2011.

Cristobal Cheyre is an assistant professor of information science. His research focuses on the empirical and experimental analysis of the benefits and costs of emerging information technologies, with an emphasis on generating insights to inform policy and management decisions. He draws on his background as both an engineer and a social scientist to bridge the gap between technology, economics, and policy.

Sanjiban Choudhury is an assistant professor of computer science and works on interactive AI agents that self-align through few-shot interactions with humans and their environment. His research focuses on reinforcement learning (RLHF), imitation learning (IRL), and foundation models for planning, robotics, and code generation. He also leads the PoRTaL group, which builds everyday robots for everyday users and has a mission to make robots accessible, user-friendly, and practical for tasks from cooking to cleaning. Choudhury did his postdoctoral research at the University of Washington and his M.A. and Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. 

Tanzeem Choudhury is a Professor in Computing and Information Sciences at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, where she holds the Roger and Joelle Burnell Chair in Integrated Health and Technology. At Cornell, Tanzeem directs the People-Aware Computing group and leads the Precision Behavioral Health Initiative, focused on advancing the future of technology-assisted well-being. Tanzeem co-founded HealthRhythms Inc, a company whose mission is to add the layer of behavioral health into all of healthcare. She is also the Senior Vice President of Digital Health at Optum Labs. Prior to Cornell, Tanzeem was an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at Dartmouth College. Tanzeem received her Ph.D. from the MIT Media Laboratory.

Morten H. Christiansen is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Psychology at Cornell University, Professor of Cognitive Science at the School of Communication and Culture as well as the Interacting Minds Centre at Aarhus University, Denmark, and a Senior Scientist at the Haskins Labs. He is an elected member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters and the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, and an elected Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the Cognitive Science Society. Christiansen is the author of over 250 scientific papers, has edited four books, and authored two monographs. His newest book aimed at a general audience, "The Language Game: How Improvisation Created Language and Changed the World", outlines a radical new perspective on how language works. 
 

Michael Clarkson is teaching-track faculty in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. In 2022, after a decade of teaching a total of about 6,000 students, he received the university’s highest annual teaching award for teaching-track faculty and was appointed as a Provost’s Teaching Fellow, which is a permanent designation. He is best known for his open-source textbook on OCaml programming, which is used at Cornell and elsewhere. His accompanying YouTube channel on functional programming has received more than a million views from around the world. He also teaches courses on object-oriented programming, formal verification, computer security, and data science. Clarkson received his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from Cornell. 

Sharlane Cleare is a lecturer of information science. Her research focuses on broadening STEM participation for underrepresented people of color by understanding how various learning experiences influence their intent to persist in STEM. 

Professor Constable stepped down as the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Science at Cornell University, serving from 1999 - 2009. CIS is a college-level unit created to advance Cornell’s academic and research initiative in computing and information science. Professor Constable was formerly chairman of Cornell’s Computer Science Department for six years.

Alex Conway is an assistant professor of computer science at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science.

Chris Csíkszentmihályi is an associate professor of information science, and an artist, occasional scholar, technology critic, and technologist. His research creates artistic and engineered sociotechnical systems to increase social justice and reconfigure power for the less served. His teaching helps orient and ground students for an ethical life in technology. Prior to joining Cornell in 2020, he was a European Research Area Chair in Portugal and founded the free/libre Rootio Project, a sociotechnical platform for community radio. Csíkszentmihályi has been a professor at universities in the USA and Europe: notably founding and directing the MIT Center for Future Civic Media (C4), dedicated to developing technologies that strengthen communities, and also the MIT Media Lab's Computing Culture group, creating unique media technologies for cultural and political applications. He has been a Radcliffe Fellow and a Rockefeller New Media Fellow, and has exhibited installations and performed on most continents. He currently sits on the board of the DATACTIVE ERC project at the Univerity of Amsterdam and the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Digital Civics at Newcastle University.

Preston Culbertson draws on machine learning, computer vision, and control theory to develop robots that move like humans. Prior to joining Cornell, he was a research scientist at The AI Institute in Cambridge, Mass. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.

Jim Dai is a professor in the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) of Cornell University. He is currently on leave from the Chandler Family Chair of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he has been a faculty member for 22 years. He is a Special Term Professor at Tsinghua University and a Visiting Professor in Decision Sciences at National University of Singapore. For more than twenty years, he has worked on stochastic models arising from communications, manufacturing, and service systems that include data switches, semiconductor wafer fabrication lines, call centers, and healthcare-delivery systems.
