Join research that’s shaping what’s next.

Research is a mindset shift. It’s open-ended, creative, and driven by curiosity — not a checklist. You’ll ask bold questions, explore new ideas, and shape your own path in a field you care about. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience in designing studies, analyzing results, and presenting your discoveries with impact.

Explore undergraduate research opportunities.

At Cornell Bowers, undergraduates have multiple pathways to dive into research, build valuable skills, and engage in hands-on discovery. Through research, you’ll gain real-world experience — designing studies, analyzing data, and presenting your findings — while working closely with faculty who are committed to mentoring the next generation of innovators.

Find your interest and follow it.

Cornell Bowers students with necessary coursework and experience are eligible to receive academic credit for independent research with faculty or research groups. Students can work one-on-one or part of a research team — gaining valuable insight, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

Portrait of Gaveal Fan

My junior summer with the Bowers Undergraduate Research Experience was the Cornell memory I treasure the most. I was a full-time researcher under the guidance of Prof. Yian Yin and I developed a project from 0 to 1, transitioning my mindset from a student to a researcher.
