Alex Conway

About

Alex Conway is an assistant professor of computer science at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science.

Conway’s research is focused on the theoretical and practical study of data structures. Data structures are both key building blocks for many algorithms, as well as the core components of many real-world systems. As a result, Conway’s work often spans multiple areas of computer science, such as algorithms, operating systems, and databases. For example, his work on SplinterDB, a key-value store, includes work published at ICALP, ATC, and SIGMOD. Beyond academia, SplinterDB is deployed in Broadcom products, such as vSAN 8.0.

Conway’s work has been featured in the SICOMP Special Issue on FOCS, Highlights of Algorithms, and has won the Distinguished Paper Award from ASPLOS. Conway received a Ph.D. in computer science from Rutgers University in 2020 and a master’s degree from Princeton University in 2011.
