For Karen (Kah-REN) Petrosyan '26, a double major in statistics and economics, his favorite memory of Cornell is also his first. Petrosyan grew up in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and was unable to visit campus before enrolling. But he knew Cornell would give him the opportunity to study both his chosen fields at the highest level possible and to pursue his passion for research.

A year into her undergraduate studies on the West Coast, Anisha Tehim ’26 decided to make a change.
She wanted to study computational biology but still have the flexibility to explore different disciplines. She wanted to dive deeper into research, too. Maryam Albakry '26: Cornell is your playground
Coming to Cornell was an easy decision for Maryam Albakry '26.
As the fourth child of Egyptian immigrants, growing up in New York City, her father had dreamed of attending the hotel school. He never realized his dream, but her older brother, Hady Albakry '20, graduated with a degree in computer science. “I had always grown up thinking Cornell was the best school,” she said.
