Ruth Martinez-Yepes is a Ph.D. student in Information Science focusing on doing research through Art. She is interested in creating metaphors to explore the relationship between body, data, and information. Also, to think critically about the narrative of information technology as neutral and immaterial. Before joining Cornell, she worked as a master facilitator on a gendered-focused Art+STEM educational program supported by Maloka Interactive Museum and the Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. 

Johan is a first year PhD student in the Department of Information Science. His research investigates field robotic systems within their contexts, looking at how decisions in robot design influence wider systems robots exist within. Johan holds degrees in Computer Science (BS, MS) and Philosophy (BA) from the University of Washington (UW). He was previously a Researcher at the 3A Institute within the School of Cybernetics at the Australian National University, and helped establish the undergraduate computer ethics curriculum at the Paul G. Allen School at UW.

Katherine is an Information Science PhD student working with Professor Gili Vidan. She explore themes of trust, authenticity, and meaning-making in technology-mediated interactions and experiences. Her research interests include themes of (dis)trust in digital technology, virtual/augmented reality, technology-aided art, and human-computer interactions. Before coming to Cornell, she completed my BA in Sociology at Princeton University and my MPhil in Digital Humanities at Trinity College Dublin.

Dibyendu's interests encompass critically examining emerging technologies for issues around social justice, citizen-state relations and the future of work. He further seeks to design contextually appropriate interventions to address some of these issues. Dibyendu has a bachelor's degree in computer science and worked as a software developer and data scientist, both in the public and private sectors, prior to joining Cornell.

Pegah Moradi is a PhD candidate in Information Science studying the social and organizational dimensions of digital automation, with a particular interest in work and workers. Her dissertation research focuses on how self-checkout and automated surveillance impact frontline retail work.

Pegah's work is supported by the NSF GRFP, Microsoft Research, the Siegel Public-Interest Technology Fellowship, and the MacArthur Foundation (through the Cornell AI, Policy, and Practice Initiative). Before starting her PhD, she received her B.A. in the interdisciplinary College Scholar program at Cornell and worked as a Project Manager for an enterprise software company in Washington, D.C.
