Nicole Roy

Associate Director, Information Science Ph.D. Programs

About

Nicole is the Associate Director of the Ph.D. program in the Department of Information
Science in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. In this
capacity, Nicole supports the Director of Graduate Studies and our Ph.D. students both
on the Ithaca N.Y. campus and the Cornell Tech campus located in NYC. She provides
academic advising, student life advising, meets with prospective students, processes
admissions into the program, and helps students meet their milestones and degree
requirements to graduate. She also works closely with many offices on campus,
especially the Graduate School, University Registrar, and Bursar.

BACKGROUND:
Nicole is a native of Ithaca (and Trumansburg), New York. She earned her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Anthropology from Cornell. Before joining the Information Science
Department in fall 2024, Nicole served as the Assistant Director of Computer Science
Undergraduate Advising at Cornell for 24.5 years. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys
spending time with her family, cooking and enjoying great food, working in her at-home
pottery studio, gardening, and (sometimes grudgingly) working on the never-ending
projects that come with stewarding a c.1850 home in the 21st century.
