The Application Process

Here’s what you need to apply (also known as “affiliate”) based on where you are in the process.

Studying Statistics and Data Science at Cornell

Bowers gives students interested in studying Statistics and Data Science at Cornell two options:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biometry and Statistics through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Statistical Science through the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S).

How to Apply
If you’re interested in pursuing the B.S. in Biometry and Statistics, you should apply directly to CALS and to the major, because CALS admits directly to majors.

Newly-admitted Biometry and Statistics majors will be assigned a Bowers professional staff academic advisor and a Bowers faculty advisor. You will also attend orientation sessions in both CALS and Bowers.

CALS students who wish to apply to (also known as "affiliate with") Biometry and Statistics as a second major may do so after completing the affiliation requirements outlined for Statistical Science majors in A&S.

CALS students can apply to add the Biometry and Statistics after fulfilling our affiliation requirements for Statistical Science majors.

Pro-tip: You can also apply while you are enrolled in the last courses you need to affiliate. Your application will be reviewed after that semester’s final grades are posted.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
